A Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is a formal test that measures what you can physically do after an injury—and what you can’t do safely. Usually takes 4-6 hours and performed by trained physical therapist.
It’s basically an objective way to answer:
“Is this person able to work, and at what level?”
What an FCE evaluates
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling
• Standing, walking, sitting tolerance
• Reaching (especially overhead), gripping
• Endurance and consistency
• Pain behavior and effort (to ensure results are valid)
